Whitepaper: New concepts in the management of data center infrastructure

When considering the value of a data center infrastructure management system (DCIM), it may be helpful to consider that the primary function a data center is to convert power into transactions and in the process, generate a lot of data and heat (that has to be removed). Nearly every data center operator is trying to increase efficiency and sustainability that can be measured by a ratio of the number of data transactions per number of power units consumed.

In a newly released Whitepaper Jim Shanahan, ABB Process Automation, Control Technologies Dublin, Ireland, describes how  how data centers are using DCIM technology along with lessons learned from manufacturing automation systems and power management to increase this ratio and positively impact the bottom line.
